The M. family all created a dot from this week's project, The Dot. They look really cool! I am going to duplicate all of them and install in my own studio. 

While hiking, G. and her brother Z. found a tree that was eaten by a beaver(s). Wow! Please hug that tree! What a cool find though!

Earth Week---The Lorax---Hugging Trees Makes You Happier!

As part of Earth Week, we always read The Lorax and encourage the children to hug and care for trees. Each child picks a tree during Forest Friday that they can run and hug each time we go outside. We teach them that trees are very valuable and provide oxygen for us to breathe so we can think clearly, run fast, and swim for a long time. This year, due to our distance learning, it is especially important to get outside and hug trees and breathe the fresh air every day. And for your information, there is scientific evidence, in the book, Blinded by Science by Matthew Silverstone, that,"hugging a tree increases levels of the hormone oxytocin. This hormone is responsible for feeling calm and emotional bonding. When hugging a tree, the hormones serotonin and dopamine make you feel happier."

Distance Learning--Day 5--Spring Has Sprung!!

As part of our science lesson, the children were asked to go outside and find all the new plants/items they could find that indicate spring has finally arrived.

C. found and picked some daffodils. 🌿🌻🌿

C. also found a hedgerow of forsythia blooming so colorfully.🌿💛🌿

T's. daffodils are still buds, but ready to burst open and bring cheer and enjoyment to the world.🌿🌻🌿

G. found some gorgeous blooming heather. It is so colorful! A nice way to start spring.🌿🌺🌿

G. also looks very proud of his blooming Magnolia tree. It is beautiful! A sure sign of spring! 🌳🌸🌳

And look at what T. found!!! An egg sac of a......any guesses??? Yes, you are correct! A praying mantis. So cool!🌿💚🌿

The World Under A Rock.

After viewing go look under a rock in your yard? See if you can find anything from the video. If it rains today, look under one tomorrow. Draw a picture of what you found.

Creating Terrariums For Our Earthworm

 The T. family really got into this project. It became a family affair. Everyone added lots of wo to S.'s terrarium. Looking great T. family!

Day 3---Distance Learning---Maybe Something Beautiful

Maybe Something Beautiful

As part of our Social Studies lesson, the children listened to a beautiful story called Maybe Something Beautiful, about a little girl who transforms her neighborhood through art. The children of K-1 were asked to think of ways they could transform their own neighborhoods into a more colorful, interesting, and artistic place for their neighbors to enjoy. I would say this is a GREAT way G. and you look so proud! ❤💛💚💙💜🌈🎨

Kindergarten has a morning routine of yoga each day. During distance learning, G. leads her pre-school, second-grade, and fifth-grade siblings in a yoga break. We are kind! Namaste🙏

Day 2 of Distance Learning--Fundations---Making c/v/c words

After creating all the alphabet cards, (excellent job, by the way) S. used them, just like we do in our classroom every day, to make c/v/c words. Creating the cards was part of Monday's Fundations assignment. Way to go, S.👍

Day 1 Distance Learning---Fletcher and the Springtime Flowers

G. did an awesome job listening to the story on Epic and responding to the question, "What is your favorite part of the story, Fletcher and the Springtime Flowers?" She used lots of colors, spacing, sight words, and had a thoughtful answer.  We can see you took your time, worked neatly and answered the question. 🌼🌸🍄🌸
