Tagging and Releasing at Beavertail

The Monarchs wait eagerly to be released.

Louie holds his Monarch with great care and patience.
Gaelyn tagged her Monarch and let it rest in her hand.
After the children let their Monarchs go.
The Monarchs use their probosis to drink nectar and prepare for their long journey to Mexico.

Due the heavy winds and rain, the tagging and releasing of the eight newly emerged Monarchs was delayed. Families met me at Beavertail on a very cool and blustery Saturday morning to help tag and release the remaining butterflies. Each child tag and released their butterfly. For all of those who came to help out, it proved to be a very exciting and magical event.
